This was a whimsically quixotic piece glorifying the beauty of light vs. shadow, bold colors, and the female form. The soft lines and swirls echo the curves of the dark haired girl while the dainty lace and draping fabric give the painting a romantic undertone. The bold orange and gold hues nurture the imagery of the sun bathing goddess. OHIO ARTIST MARCELLA SINCLAIR
This painting was inspired by a seagull that followed my parents around on South Bass Island in Put-in-Bay Township, Ottawa County, Ohio. My father is not fond of birds but this little guy seemed to take a particular liking to him. He followed them throughout most of the day often perching close enough for them to snap several photos of him. His shortened tail feathers made him easy to spot from the other gulls on the island. His lack of fear of them made the trip memorable. OHIO ARTIST
This piece represents Lincolns inner struggle with his moral construct and the adherence to the law. Lincoln's "House Divided" speech was specifically about the problems of slavery in the United States at the time. This eloquent speech presented his moral, legal and economic opposition to slavery but admitted that he didn’t know how to deal with it under the confines of the constitution. This struggle would ultimately lead to the emancipation of slaves and the American Civil War. Ohio Art
The “Sprocketeer” represents a Victorian steampunk /cyberpunk setting reminiscent of the dawn of the industrial revolution. While balancing form and function, this style often blurs the lines between tools and decoration using different textures to extrapolate the essence of a mechanical era. The intricate shapes and fictitious gadgetry of this machine-driven age are what inspired this fun fantasy portrait produced using a combination of charcoal and both soft and hard pastels.
